The Journey of Wealth: From Scarcity to Self-Authored Abundance

Wealth is often misunderstood.

For some, it’s just a number.

For others, it’s a status.

But for those willing to walk the real path—it becomes something more:

A journey of self-discovery, of healing, of knowing one’s value, and of creating a life so aligned that you no longer fantasize about retirement—because you’re living the life you love today.

Investor DNA: Wealth Begins With Alignment

We all have a unique way we create, contribute, and connect.

I call this your Investor DNA—and discovering it is the first step on the journey of wealth.

It’s not about chasing every opportunity. It’s about recognizing what’s right for you.

Because what’s lucrative for one person might be toxic for another.

What’s fulfilling for someone else might leave you burnt out and resentful.

Investor DNA is the intersection of your values, your competencies, your interests, and your value creation.

Operating outside of it isn’t just inefficient—it’s expensive. Financially, emotionally, energetically.

Financial Intelligence Is Learned Over Time

We’re not born with financial intelligence.

We develop it.

We evolve through mistakes, through trial and error, through learning what doesn’t work—until we’re finally ready to hear what does.

Every financial setback is a tuition payment.

Every dollar lost can become wisdom gained—if we allow it to teach us, rather than define us.

And with that intelligence comes power:

  • The power to build a structure around our finances.
  • To organize our financial life.
  • To get our financial house in order so we can stop surviving and start designing.

The Trap of “Long-Haul” Thinking

Yes, we must think long-term. But not at the expense of presence.

We often tell ourselves we’re building for “someday.”

But someday becomes a trap.

A permission slip to delay joy.

A lie that keeps us from doing the things that matter now.

The long haul can become an excuse.

It leads to abdication, not responsibility.

We say yes to what we should do, while saying no to what we truly want.

Meanwhile, peace of mind isn’t a future achievement—it’s a current condition.

Wealth isn’t just about assets and interest rates.

It’s about the ability to breathe. To be still. To be here.

To have fun. To laugh. To be spontaneous. To love the life you’ve built.

The Plan Is Just the Start

Having a plan is one thing.

Living it is another.

Sticking to your plan means learning to discern between real opportunities and disguised distractions.

That seductive investment?

That new idea?

Ask:

  • Does this align with my Investor DNA?
  • Does this add to—or take from—my peace of mind?
  • If I say yes, what would I be saying no to?
  • Am I pursuing this from purpose—or pressure?

So many people chase wins… but find themselves more anxious with every “success.

Because the win was never defined.

It’s a moving target—always just out of reach.

You Might Be Playing the Wrong Game

Some people are playing to not lose.

They cling. They preserve. They over-prepare. They ruminate on the past.

They hold on to things that stopped serving them long ago.

Others are playing to win.

But winning is elusive, the target is moving and work becomes an addiction.

No matter how much they earn or achieve, it’s never enough.

So how do you win before you begin?

It starts with healing.

The Hidden Origins of Scarcity

In Disrupting Sacred Cows, I talk about the origins of scarcity.

It’s not just about money—it’s emotional, psychological, and generational.

Many of us built our ambition from pain.

From the belief that success would finally prove our worth.

That money would bring safety. That being liked would bring love.

But those are coping mechanisms dressed up as motivation.

And while they may have served us at one point—they eventually sabotage us.

They exhaust us.

They distort our identity.

They disconnect us from joy.

What Beliefs Are You Still Carrying?

We all made silent promises as kids.

“I’ll never feel like this again.”

“If you want something done right you have to do it yoursel.”\

“I’ll be successful and that will show them.”

These vows became programs.

They helped us survive, but now they prevent us from thriving.

That protection… becomes prevention:

  • Prevention of prosperity
  • Prevention of presence
  • Prevention of peace, collaboration, and even celebration

So ask yourself:

  • What beliefs no longer serve me?
  • What emotions do I suppress or avoid?
  • What story do I tell about money, success, and my worth that no longer serves me?

Because until you heal, until you tell a new your story, it continues to diminish your life and define you.

From Reaction to Intention

You can’t out-hustle unresolved wounds.

You can’t out-earn a broken belief system.

You can’t keep sacrificing peace for more progress and expect fulfillment.

So ask yourself:

  • Are you ignoring your finances and hoping it’ll fix itself?
  • Are you working harder, trying to outwork your emptiness?
  • Are you people-pleasing, just to be liked?
  • Are you constantly proving instead of creating?

If you’ve never defined your best life—then you’re living someone else’s.

Designing a Life You Don’t Want to Retire From

This is the turning point.

True wealth is living a life you don’t want to escape from.

So what does your best life look like?

What would your calendar say if it reflected your priorities—not just your obligations?

What would your finances look like if they were organized around freedom, not fear?

What would change if you stopped sacrificing for someday—and started creating today?

Wealth is when your money supports your life, not the other way around.

It’s not about retiring from work.

It’s about retiring from stress. From scarcity. From pretending. From pressure.

It’s about writing a new story:

One of intention, prosperity, presence, and purpose.

Because in the end…

You’re the author.
The pen is in your hand.
The old story got you here.
The new one? That’s where you truly begin.
